NHS England is looking for a nationally recognised and respected Allied Health Professional to play a key role in the clinical leadership of the WT&E Directorate of the new NHS England.
You will be a self-motivated change agent with excellent attention to detail, a natural ability to build strong and effective multi-professional partnerships, plan, be keen to apply your excellent organisational skills, and be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels. Successful delivery is dependent on collaborative working, building trust and consensus, so the ability to demonstrate strong communication skills (particularly regarding complex concepts) and develop robust stakeholder relations across the health and care system is essential.
The successful post holder will be an allied health professional, registered with either the Healthcare Professions Council or the General Osteopathic Council, with broad experience across service, and be committed to the culture and values of the NHS.
This is an exciting, high-profile opportunity to lead important, innovative, and high-quality workforce solutions across Allied Health Professions, helping to ensure that NHS England delivers key Mandate and NHS Long Term Plan policy improvement priorities in education reform and workforce transformation. The successful candidate will have a track record in regional and/or national leadership associated with the allied health professions.
Key criteria:- Is a current allied health professional registered with either the Healthcare Professions Council or the General Osteopathic Council.
- Can evidence extensive workforce leadership experience across allied health at regional and/or national level.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of and track record of working in a complex matrix environment to manage clinical aspects of programme delivery.
- Can demonstrate a sound understanding of the key contemporary issues affecting the allied health professions including the specific issues impacting the small and vulnerable professions and can evidence experience in relevant strategic programmes of work across systems, regions or national.
- Can demonstrate a sound grasp of the strategic value of allied health professions workforce in the current context of services focussed on inequalities, quality and safety and can demonstrate advocacy in this respect.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
The role is the deputy role to the deputy chief allied health professions officer - NHS England workforce training and education and oversights the supply pipeline and postgraduate training pathways for the 15 allied health professions.
