Our client is a leading design/production studio, specialising in Brand Activation and Installation projects for some of the biggest global brands. They are able to control all aspects of the production process in-house including carpentry, spray painting, metalwork, model making and scenic work.

They’re now looking for a Head of Carpentry, to join the team. This role is approximately an 80/20 split of supervision and working on the tools. You’ll be directly responsible for the timelines, quality, and efficiency of the department. As well as overseeing the workflow and ensuring the budgets and deadlines are met.

Job Role
  • Oversee the carpentry department and team members, in line with the manager’s overall strategy and brief
  • Manage the manufacture and workflow, in line with weekly schedules and budgets
  • Allocate stock materials and assign them to project numbers
  • Quality control and labelling of components
  • Responsible for the safety of the machines/tools – performing frequent checks as required
  • Overseeing the maintenance schedule and management of contracted maintenance checks
  • Ensure the correct operation of machinery/tools by the workforce, providing training as required
  • Provide feedback on team members to management
  • Assesses potential new team members on trial shifts and report back on their suitability for the role
  • Oversee breaktimes and attendance, reporting on any lateness to management
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the carpentry department, including general housekeeping and noise control
Skills and Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the build process
  • Flexible and agile
  • Able to work within tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent understanding of H&S/RAMs
  • Able to work across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proactive with the ability to problem solve without the direction of superiors
