Islington Norfolk, United Kingdom Hestia Housing Support Full time

At Hestia, we live by our values and are committed to a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation that provides a variety of services such as Domestic Abuse, Modern Slavery, Mental Health & Complex Needs and Criminal Justice. The service you will work in….
Approved Premises (AP) work with the highest-risk offenders and provide a vital element in public protection arrangements. AP offer a ‘stepping stone' from prison to more mainstream community life with a level of contact, support and supervision that does not exist anywhere else in the probation service. Our Islington AP is dedicated to supporting female residents.
Residents are seen on a daily basis and staff become involved in the resident's life to a very high degree: giving advice and offering support whilst exercising control and supervision, all the time liaising with the rest of the probation service and a wide range of agencies. This intense level of contact is what enables AP staff to monitor residents' well-being, to tailor support and to be aware of their actions and changes in their behaviour in a way that no other intervention can.
Although some do require help in this aspect of their lives residents have freedom, including the freedom to make mistakes, even if there are negative consequences for them. As a Pool worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Criminal Justice Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.
Providing support and leading meaning interventions and purposeful activities to encourage recovery in the residents of the Approved Premises.
Monitoring and encouraging, guiding, advising and supervising residents, all the time ensuring that public protection is at the very core of all work carried out.
Providing admin and other support to colleagues, particularly in the preparation, facilitation and evaluation of purposeful activities.
Following protocols, encouraging compliance and taking enforcement action as necessary, in particular around drug and alcohol testing requirements and curfews.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Experience of working with vulnerable adults, ideally those with experience of the Criminal Justice System.
The ability to engage and communicate effectively with others to provide a flexible and responsive approach.
Due to the nature of the role, this post is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).
Our commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Our services users come from all walks of life and so do we. We are committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce and value the skills, abilities, talent and experiences, different people and communities bring to our organisation.
We are a disability confident employer…
Hestia is a disability confident employer, committed to the employment and career development of individual with disabilities.
