QSW - Childrens - Social Worker - Safeguarding Your New Company: Achieving for Children is a not-for-profit organization that provides children’s services for Kingston, Richmond, and Windsor & Maidenhead Councils. Their mission is to support children and young people in living safe, happy, healthy, and successful lives. About the Role: Child Protection and Child in Need Plans: You’ll be supporting children and young people who are subject to these plans. Child Protection plans are for children at risk of significant harm, while Child in Need plans focus on providing support to families to improve their well-being. These plans involve assessing risks, coordinating services, and ensuring the child’s safety and welfare. Transferring Cases: You’ll need to understand when it’s appropriate to transfer cases from the Safeguarding team to the Permanence team. The Safeguarding team handles immediate risks, while the Permanence team focuses on long-term solutions (such as adoption or fostering). Building Relationships: You’ll establish strong and respectful working relationships with families, their support networks, and partner agencies. Effective collaboration is crucial for achieving positive outcomes for children and young people. Assessment and Documentation: Regular assessment writing involves evaluating a child’s needs, risks, and strengths. Threshold application refers to determining whether a child meets the criteria for specific services or interventions. Home visits allow you to assess the child’s living environment and family dynamics. Direct work involves engaging with children and families directly to address their needs. Care planning ensures that appropriate services are provided. Chairing meetings involves facilitating discussions among professionals involved in a child’s case. Case recording ensures accurate documentation of all interactions and decisions. Child Participation: You’ll actively involve children and young people in your work. Their voices should be heard and captured in case records. Reflective Supervision: Regularly participating in reflective supervision sessions helps you process your experiences, learn, and improve your practice. Group supervision involves discussing cases and sharing insights with colleagues. About You: Effective Communicator: You excel at conveying information clearly and listening actively. Communication is essential for collaborating with colleagues, families, and agencies. Resilient Worker: You handle challenges well and adapt to changing situations. Whether working independently or in a team, you take ownership of your assigned cases. Statutory and Regulatory Knowledge: You’re confident and competent in understanding relevant laws and regulations. This knowledge guides your professional interventions. Champion of Inclusion and Diversity: You actively promote diversity and ensure everyone’s voice is heard. Making a positive impact on children and young people’s lives is your goal. Solution-Focused: You tackle sensitive issues head-on, seeking practical solutions. Your focus is on positive outcomes for those you serve.
