About Ignite Hubs
Ignite Hubs is an education charity for children and young people aged 7 to 18. Our mission is to ignite the potential of young minds by widening their horizons and providing them with the skills, connections, and experiences to access career-related learning opportunities and prepare them for the future workforce. We currently teach coding and STEM.

We aim to provide the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities. We place a special emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups, including girls, children with special educational needs, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. We teach over 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started. Our educational offerings include four weekly virtual classes and five weekly in-person classes during term time at various libraries throughout Southwark, SE London.

Our long-term ambition is to offer nationwide classes, workshops and events to children and young people on a wide variety of subjects under our five educational Hubs: Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity and Health & Wellbeing.

We are seeking friendly and enthusiastic Lego Coding Instructors to join our Instructor team. We want to deliver interactive and engaging coding sessions using Lego Spike Essential and Spike Prime kits to children and young people.

In each class, there are tables for different topics, such as Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, Micro:bit, Robotics, etc., so students can work on projects that they are interested in.

The role involves travelling to at least one of our class locations per week, which are held at libraries. Mondays – Canada Water Library
Tuesdays – Walworth Library
Thursdays – Camberwell Library
Saturdays – Una Marson Library

All onsite classes start at 6:15pm to 7:15pm apart from at Una Marson Library, which starts at 11am to 12pm, during term-time only. Our terms are 8 weeks and there is a break in the middle of at least two weeks, longer for Easter and the Summer holidays. You are required to be there around 10-15mins beforehand to help with set-up and stay on 15 to 20 mins after to help with pack-up and a quick debrief.

There may also be additional hours available to contribute to the curriculum development and content creation for the Online Learning Platform, which we are currently designing and building.

Conduct engaging and educational Lego coding sessions at the libraries.
Utilise Lego Spike Essential and Spike Prime kits to teach coding and Python programming.
Possibility to work additional hours by supporting other classes, creating resources, projects and content for our Online Learning Platform.

We will carry out an Enhanced DBS check and ask for two references.
You will be reimbursed for reasonable travelling costs and paid £12 for up to an hour of travelling time each way.

Passionate about using Lego to teach coding concepts.
Proficiency in blocked-based coding and Python programming.
Willingness to travel to multiple library locations is desirable.
Experience working with children and/or young people in a formal or informal community setting (desirable).
Engage in exciting projects and initiatives on a voluntary basis for career growth and skill development.
Opportunity to nurture the next generation of digital whizzes and creatives.

This position is ideal for individuals passionate about technology and education and looking for a fulfilling role that offers flexibility and purpose.
