The Role - Product Development Director, Microscopy & Metrology Semiconductor Process Equipment

This innovative technology leader now has an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Director. This organisation has projects running at different stages in the company’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process. The company is looking for a full-time Product Development Manager to manage activities within the Development and Engineering organisation.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Drive the integral development of products to deliver the agreed performance requirements, on time, and in budget.
  2. Technical alignment across engineering disciplines and key suppliers to deliver agreed system performance and functionality.
  3. Work with the project manager and functional managers to ensure required resources available to meet the product development timeline with stage gate reviews in accordance with the PLM process.
  4. Manage the integral product development budget together with head of Development & Engineering.
  5. Ensure the integral product cost target is achieved together with head of supply chain management.
  6. Work closely with the product manager and marketing team to align functionality and performance of the product to specific customer requirements to maximize the business for the company.

Your Background - Product Development Director, Microscopy & Metrology Semiconductor Process Equipment

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • A natural leader that can work effectively across functions and technical disciplines to align and motivate people inside and outside the business.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to zoom in and out of subjects to see the big picture and understand the details.

  • Pragmatic and flexible yet systematic and disciplined in approach.

Education / Qualifications: PhD in an Engineering or Science discipline preferred or extensive industrial experience with lower technical qualification.

Professional Skills/ Abilities: Essential

  • Strong multi-discipline technical background
  • Experience in driving product development in a multi-discipline high technology environment.
  • Experience of working with semiconductor or other complex equipment, such as aerospace programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage product developments in a complex and fast-moving environment.
  • Comfortable with technologies used, including servo-mechanics, electronics, and optics.
  • Ability to effectively interact with engineers and scientists across a broad spectrum of disciplines as well as internal and external stakeholders across the full spread of business functions.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Scanning Probe Metrology systems and techniques.
  • Knowledge of metrology systems and techniques.
