Basic Requirements:

* IAT Level 2 or equivalent education is essential

* Personal Licence A and B is essential, C is desirable

* Knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986

* Previous experience in performing regulated procedures

* Ability to work independently and address operational issues

* Organising your own workload and taking initiative

* Assisting in training new technicians and helping with their day to day work

* Flexible approach to rota

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for regulated and non-regulated procedures under ASPA

* Provide care and husbandry of research animals

* Follow instructions and guidance of the relevant researcher

* Provide technical assistance with experimental protocols and surgical procedures

* Feeding, watering, as well as preparation of specialist feeding regimes

* Monitor the health status of all animals through observation and regular health checks

* Assisting with maintenance of equipment, including fault finding and troubleshooting

* Maintaining detailed and accurate records of all animals, stock levels and procedures

* Following SOP’s and health and Safety procedures
