As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the effective operation of the children’s residential home, working closely with the Registered Manager. You will lead and inspire a team to deliver high-quality care, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management:
  • Support the Registered Manager in overseeing daily operations of the home.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and support to staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and accountability.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and performance management of team members.
  • Care Delivery:
  • Ensure the highest standards of care for children and young people, promoting their safety, well-being, and development.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with children, families, and professionals.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating empathy and consistency in interactions with children.
  • Compliance & Safeguarding:
  • Maintain adherence to Ofsted regulations and standards.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are strictly followed.
  • Conduct regular audits and contribute to inspections.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Oversee record-keeping and reporting to meet statutory and organizational requirements.
  • Assist in budget management and resource allocation.


Requirements

  • Qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to work towards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a residential childcare setting.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with confidence and empathy.
  • Sound knowledge of child protection and safeguarding.
