Mechanical Software Engineer (.NET, Autodesk)
Location: Flexible remote working with occasional site visits to the West Midlands
Are you a Software Engineer with a strong mechanical background and proficiency in programming languages such as C#, .NET, Python, and Autodesk products? We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Software Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on the Autodesk manufacturing portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who combines a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles with expert software development skills in Autodesk environments.
Role Overview: As a Mechanical Software Engineer, you will develop and implement custom software solutions using Autodesk products like AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Fusion 360, and Vault. You will provide both pre and post-sales support, engage in training activities, troubleshoot issues, and deliver high-quality solutions tailored to meet client-specific needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance customer service excellence by providing expert Pre-Sales consultancy and effective technical presentations for Autodesk products such as Inventor, AutoCAD, and Fusion 360.
- Deliver comprehensive post-sales training and consultancy, focusing on functionalities like part modeling, assemblies, and dynamic motion analysis.
- Offer technical support through our helpdesk, managing customer technical requirements to deliver superior value-added service.
- Work collaboratively with the Sales and Marketing teams to identify new business opportunities and assist in the development of promotional materials.
- Liaise with Autodesk’s global technical teams to maintain and enhance Autodesk accreditations.
Product Development:
- Design, build, and maintain custom software applications tailored to client needs using Autodesk software.
- Engage with clients and internal teams to define project requirements, scope, and deliverables.
- Ensure robust testing and debugging of software to guarantee quality and performance.
- Document software designs, coding, and technical specifications clearly and comprehensively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong experience in software development, particularly with Autodesk products and APIs.
- Expertise in programming languages such as C#, .NET, Python, or similar.
- Proficient in handling Autodesk customization frameworks and familiar with Autodesk’s API integrations.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Autodesk certifications (ACP/ACI) are advantageous but not mandatory.
