Peaple Talent has partnered with a technology and digital consultancy based in the northeast who are currently recruiting for a head of engineering on a permanent basis. You will need to be technically sound across a variety of technologies stacks such as .Net, React, React Native, NextJS, NodeJS, AWS, and Azure. You will also be responsible consulting and working with clients providing market leading solutions, building high performance engineering teams along with establishing and leading a Centre of excellence for software engineering as well as defining, implementing, and ensuring best practice Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and DevOps processes.

Role and responsibilities


Technical Excellence:

  • Ensuring the quality of the technical aspects of projects across all UK emerging market accounts.
  • Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Adapting to new technologies and drive team adoption of new tools and frameworks.

Business Development:

  • Engaging with customers to understand their needs and providing solutions.
  • Be an integral part to the business development process by scoping, estimating, and proposing technical solutions to our clients.

Team Building & Leadership:

  • Building and managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
  • Fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Creating learning pathways for all digital engineering employees.
  • Defining skills roadmaps and developing talent for upcoming demand and trends.


You'll have:

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies and architectures.
  • Experience with our core tech stack: .Net, React, React Native, NextJS, NodeJS, AWS, and Azure.
  • Familiarity with testing tools such as Postman, Cypress, LambdaTest, BrowserStack, K6, JMeter, etc.

Leadership Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in team building, leadership, and mentoring.
  • A proven track record in establishing and leading engineering teams.

Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to scope, estimate, and provide robust solutions to customer needs.

Adaptability:

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies as required.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential challenges.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with customers, team members, and stakeholders.


Desirable skills and experience


Industry Experience:

  • Prior experience in a digital consultancy or similar environment.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing, Automative or Life Science industries.

Advanced Certifications:

Certifications in relevant technologies or methodologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified ScrumMaster).

Advanced DevOps Skills:

  • Expertise in advanced DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).

Cross-Functional Skills:

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA.
  • Experience in leading or participating in agile transformation initiatives.

Innovative Mindset:

  • A track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
  • Experience in implementing new technologies or frameworks within an organization.

Client Management:

  • Strong client management skills with a focus on building long-term relationships.
  • Experience in negotiating and closing deals with customers.

Global Team Experience:

  • Experience working with or managing globally distributed teams.
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.

Community Engagement:

Active participation in the tech community (e.g., open-source contributions, speaking at conferences, writing technical blogs).
