London, United Kingdom Legal & General Full time

Helping over ten million people around the world manage their savings, retirement plans and life insurance requires a lot of people behind the scenes.  It’s up to us in L&G Group functions – which includes our tech and digital teams, Group Finance, HR, Risk and Corporate Affairs – to provide the essential support services that all areas of the business need, here in the UK and overseas. Simply put, we enable everyone at Legal & General to do what they do best. That means we’re helping to improve our customers’ lives and contributing to the success of the business every day.

Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary to join our Group Treasury Function as a Liquidity Manager. We’re offering a competitive base salary as well as a host of other great benefits.

As a Liquidity Manager you will work on liquidity optimisation projects to drive change and growth to our existing liquidity infrastructure in order to maximise the liquidity that is available for investment across the Group. As well as playing a pivotal role in building, implementing and scaling a new liquidity reporting function which will allow us to forecast liquidity generation going forwards.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing, implementing and managing a robust, regular consolidated liquidity reporting capability for the purposes of forecasting liquidity generation by Business Unit.
  • Creating liquidity forecasts and tracking how actual liquidity generation compares to these forecasts. This will include presenting the results to Group/Senior stakeholders to allow them to make decisions and/or to improve control and performance.
  • Undertaking liquidity optimisation projects to drive change and growth to the existing liquidity infrastructure in order to maximise the liquidity that is available for investment across the Group while maintaining our liquidity risk appetite.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the group to develop an understanding, identify opportunities and recognise emerging risks with regards to liquidity.
  • Working with second line and Group ALM to develop, propose and implement strategies to ensure the integrity of stress testing for liquidity and collateral.
  • Keeping yourself informed of the latest communication with the Prudential Regulation Authority and ensuring that L&G Group adheres to all relevant regulations.
  • Ensuring that the processes and systems in place provide support to Group Treasury and meet any regulatory obligations and are also in line with Legal & General’s Consumer Duty commitments.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • A Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary
  • Strong Excel skills, with good data analysis and modelling capabilities
  • An understanding/knowledge of UK Financial Markets (including the markets in which Group Treasury operates)
  • Previous Balance Sheet experience – E.g. Solvency II or MA exposure – would be highly preferrable
  • An understanding/knowledge of Liquidity Risk, including how this is measured and regulations/legislation that affect Liquidity Risk would be highly preferrable
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across the group with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor the information to suit the requirements of the intended audience

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Private medical insurance (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice
  • There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • In 2023, some of our workspaces were redesigned. Our offices are great spaces to connect and collaborate and have your wellbeing at the heart
