From hand-selecting green beans (sourced by following seasonal harvests) to exceptional roasting methods at our very own London-based roastery, The Gentlemen Baristas believe that from cherry to cup, a decent cup of coffee is all about getting the most out of coffee beans.
What’s Brewing? We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Quality Assistant to join The Gentlemen Baristas' QC team in London. This role involves fulfilling outbound sample requests, sample roasting, managing sample administration and data entry, organising inbound samples in the London lab, and preparing samples for cuppings. The ideal candidate will have completed SCA courses and be familiar with cupping coffee and SCA standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assistant the Head of Coffee with the cupping and sample preparation
- Perform sample roasting using Roest and Probat machines.
- Handle sample administration and data entry, organizing the inbound flow of samples in the London lab (including Offer, PSS, and Arrival samples).
- Prepare samples for cuppings.
- Monitor stock levels of sample materials.
- Follow The Gentlemen Baristas’ QC procedures, such as roasting, cupping, and green grading.
- Communicate sample dispatch details with customers.
- Work closely with the specialty team based in the UK and at Origins, providing support and assistance as needed.
Essential Skills:
- Exceptional organisational skills.
- Good reporting and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of the QC team.
- Strong coffee knowledge.
- Roasting experience.
Desired Skills:
- Completion of SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) courses.
- Strong cupping skills or Q grader certification.
- Background in coffee quality control (QC).
