Your duties as a Team Member at Macatia and Coffee - Welcome guests and take their orders as soon as possible - this should be more than a transactional exchange, ensuring sure our guests feel respected, and valued. - Processing payments with accuracy and speed. - Be a team player. When required, assist in the preparation and serving of all food & beverages efficiently and maintain high standards of food hygiene. - Maintain a high level of cleanliness at all times and practice good housekeeping, while ensuring that guest areas are welcoming, clean and restocked. - Ensure that all supplies and displays are stocked throughout the day. Ordering of additional supplies may be required (coffee, food, packaging and disposables). - Follow opening and closing procedures - completing them in a timely manner. - Attendance at staff meetings and training classes. Your duties as Head of Coffee and Food at Macatia Location: Macatia and Coffee in Herne Hill Reports to: Operations Director Job Summary: Our Head of Coffee and Food plays a key role in maintaining the highest standards of coffee, alternative drinks, and food preparation and service at Macatia and Coffee in Herne Hill The position requires an experienced head barista and food service professional with a passion for coffee and food, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to lead and inspire a team. Our Head of Coffee and Food will ensure consistency and quality in our coffee, alternative drinks, and food offerings, manage the training and development of baristas, and contribute to innovation and product development Responsibilities: 1. Quality Control and Standards: - Ensure all coffee and alternative beverages, and food menu items meet our quality standards and are consistently prepared to perfection. - Conduct regular quality checks on all coffee and alternative beverages, and food menu items. - Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the coffee and kitchen bar areas. 2. Training and Development: - Train new baristas on coffee and alternative drinks preparation techniques, customer service, and equipment maintenance. Train all team members on food menu preparation and execution. - Conduct regular skills assessments and training sessions to ensure all baristas are up to date with the latest coffee trends and techniques. - Develop and maintain training materials and manuals. 3. Operational Management: - Assist in the daily operations of the coffee and kitchen bars, ensuring efficient and smooth service. - Managing the teams scheduling, ensuring that the shop is optimally and suitably staffed at all times - Report daily inventory requirements to Operations Director, and order stock when and as needed. - Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance and repair needs to Operations Director. 4. Assist in innovation and Product Development: - Collaborate with the Operations Director to introduce new coffee drinks, alternative drinks and food menu products. - Stay informed about industry trends and implement new ideas to keep our coffee offerings fresh and exciting. - Experiment with and develop new recipes, brewing methods, and presentation styles. 5. Team Leadership: - Lead by example, demonstrating exceptional barista skills and customer service. - Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. - Address any performance issues and provide constructive feedback to team members. Qualifications: - Proven experience as a barista and food service professional, and a desire to develop skills. - Extensive knowledge of coffee brewing methods, espresso machine operation, and latte art. - Strong training and mentoring skills. - Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. - Creative mindset with a passion for innovation in coffee preparation. - Exceptional customer service and communication skills. - Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
