We are looking for a Non-Executive Director on behalf of our client to join their Board with specific responsibility as Chair of the Board Risk Committee. You will ideally have automotive or consumer lending financial services experience and have Board Level experience. This role is a key appointment as you will be identifying, assessing and managing risks effectively and in accordance with the company’s risk appetite, strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.


Key Areas


·      Promoting the long-term sustainable success of the Company, generating value for its shareholders and other stakeholders.

·      Chairing meetings of the Board Risk Committee ensuring that it operates within the Terms of Reference, risk appetite and Risk Management Framework agreed by the Board.

·      Overseeing the risk management processes within the company, ensuring that effective risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation processes are in place.

·      Collaborating with senior management and the board of directors to establish the company’s risk appetite and tolerance levels.

·      Regularly monitoring the firm's risk exposure across various business activities, including credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and compliance risk.

·      Reviewing and approving risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure they remain effective and compliant with regulatory requirements.

·      Providing regular reports to the board of directors on the firm's risk profile, significant risk issues, and the effectiveness of risk management processes.

·      Where required, interfacing with regulatory authorities as necessary, providing updates on the firm's risk management practices, and addressing any concerns raised by regulators regarding risk management.

·      Facilitating communication and collaboration between the risk committee, senior management, the board of directors, and other relevant stakeholders regarding risk-related matters.

·      Fostering a strong risk-aware culture within the organisation by promoting the importance of risk management at all levels and encouraging open communication about risk issues.

Non-Executive directors are recognised as playing a key part in good governance in terms of independent oversight of Board decision making. As a Board member, Non-Executive directors will exercise their role through influence and advice, supporting as well as challenging the executive, and covering such issues as:

·      support, guidance and challenge on the progress and implementation of the strategic objectives.

·      performance, operational issues, adherence to relevant standards and regulations, and on the effective management of the delivery plan.


Ideally, we are looking for individuals that have worked at an executive level within financial services with a strong appreciation of governance and risk management. You will have held or currently hold relevant SMF responsibilities and be used to interacting the FCA.

This is an exciting opportunity, and we envisage the role requiring 2-3 days per month and you will mentor and coach the Chief Risk Officer so that they are further developed.
