Simplex Molecular is an early-stage startup working on NextGen Molecular Diagnostics to make DNA testing universally accessible. Current diagnostic methods are slow, costly, and often unavailable in many settings, leading to misdiagnoses and inappropriate treatments. We aim to address the global health threat posed by infectious diseases, which are responsible for over 13 million deaths annually and are on the rise. To tackle this challenge, we are developing an innovative, instrument-free DNA testing platform that can be deployed anywhere, providing rapid, affordable, and highly accurate results. Our cutting-edge platform combines advanced bioengineering with microfluidics, aiming to revolutionize rapid, point-of-care diagnostics. Our mission is to enable healthcare professionals to deliver timely treatments worldwide, even in resource-limited settings, by providing accurate and cost-effective solutions. We are driven by innovation and a relentless commitment to make a meaningful impact on global healthcare.
About the Role
This role will be based out of Venture Builder Zinc VC until the end of November, at which point we shall be funded and continue building as part of an accelerator.
We are seeking a highly motivated co-founder/CEO to lead the company’s growth in the healthcare space. We are looking for someone passionate about transforming healthcare through innovation and skilled at navigating the life science landscape. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving commercialization, implementing fundraising strategies, and establishing strong partnerships. This role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and extensive experience in life sciences and diagnostics.
🔎 What we are looking for
A Co-founder with proven experience in:
· Life sciences/healthcare ventures
· Building and scaling new technologies from concept to demonstration;
· Developing and expanding B2B strategies for diagnostic technologies.
· Identify, explore and access routes to market.
· Empowering and developing teams from zero to 100+
💪 How you will know this is a good fit
· You have a minimum of 5 years of professional commercial experience within the healthcare sector
· Have a strong network within the biotech/ healthcare sectors.
· Are a strategic thinker with a commercial instinct and the ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
· Are passionate about building profitable ‘impact-focused’ startups
· Are independent, self-directed, highly motivated, intellectually curious, and driven to take initiative
· Have exceptional communication, networking and leadership skills.
· Have a strong commitment to the team: maintains positive working relationships with diverse people, including internal and external partners
· Are happy and willing to wear lots of hats on a daily basis.
🔎 Nice to have
- MSc/PhD in life science, Biomedical Sciences Diagnostics or a related field
- Experience in Business Development and Licensing strategies in healthcare
- Industry-specific know-how, commercial knowledge (e.g. strategic partnerships, clinical trials, regs etc.) and strong network within the pharma/healthcare industry.
- Experience in raising funds from early-stage investors/VC.
- Experience in building and scaling a high-growth enterprise (leadership/c-suite roles)

🌎 Location
This is a full-time role, available for an immediate start.
You must have a right to work in the UK. Given the timeline we’re working to, we can’t consider visas at the moment.
