Job Title: Communications and Learning Assistant


Reports to: Director of Communications and Learning


Hours: Full-time working to broadly standard office hours (35-hour week). 


We welcome applications from individuals requiring flexible working hours. During core days, staff should work broad office hours (usually encompassing 10am – 4pm).


Location: Kings Cross, London with hybrid working arrangements. We have ‘core days’ when all employees are expected to work from the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The office is open all day every working day and employees can use the working space as much as is helpful to deliver their role.

 

Salary: £27k - £29k

About the role


We are looking to recruit an additional team member to support and provide additional capacity to our Communications and Learning team in delivering the strategy. In particular:


·       Helping to deliver our external and internal communications.

·       Supporting our approach to learning from the work we fund.

·       Supporting the administration of Funding Plus and Tools and arranging training for organisations we fund.

Core responsibilities:


1.    Collaborate on delivering a communications plan that promotes the initiatives we support and highlights the work we do as a Foundation.


2.    Seve as the first point of contact during the Communications Manager’s absence, ensuring continuity and accessibility for all stakeholders.


3.    Support the Communications Manager in updating and writing copy for our website (using Wagtail), creating and sharing content for our social media channels (currently LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram) and newsletter (using Campaign Monitor), and monitoring engagement.


4.    Work with the Communications Manager on internal communications (currently Teams channel and SharePoint): sharing updates about the Foundation’s work, news about the work we fund, and feedback we receive.


5.    Work with the Communications Manager to organise and deliver the Foundation’s webinars (using Zoom) about our funding process and strategy.


6.    Support the Foundation’s learning and impact approach, including organising training and learning events.


7.    Funding Plus – support the Impact Support Manager in assessing and processing Funding Plus applications and awards (using Salesforce).


8.    Tools – assist the Funding team in administration, payments and processing of the proactive projects we commission and run, e.g. event bookings and organisation, processing invoices, and tracking payments.


9.    Actively contribute to the resources team, providing support for colleagues in the team as and where required.

·       Internally: all staff, in particular the Communications and Learning team 

·       Externally: people and organisations interested in our work and support, applicants and recipients of funding, and other sector partners.


Skills and experience:


  1. Good communication skills, with the ability to write and produce engaging content for different audiences.
  2. Knowledge and experience of one of the Foundation’s sectors. (This might have been gained in a number of ways, including through lived experience.)
  3. Demonstrated interest in communications or campaigning, which could be through previous roles, personal projects, studies, or community engagement.
  4. Experience of using different social media channels.
  5. Collaborative team player with the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
  6. IT skills, with experience in using Word, PowerPoint.
  7. Good organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to conduct, prioritise, and manage several different tasks at once
