Business Development Manager – Battery Recycling & Logistics

My client is a leader in battery recycling and resource recovery, is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to drive growth and strategic partnerships in the UK and EU. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work at the forefront of the circular economy, engaging with key industry players in the battery sector.

The Role:

Reporting to the Director, Head of European Upstream Sales, the Business Development Manager will focus on two key areas:

  • Developing and managing compliance scheme contracts in the UK (covering all battery types).
  • Expanding access to Li-ion batteries for recycling through partnerships with OEMs, battery manufacturers, collectors, and waste battery producers across the UK and EU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of regional sales strategies to expand key account relationships.
  • Develop and implement customer key account plans, setting financial growth targets and aligning with technical, marketing, and operational initiatives.
  • Manage commercial negotiations with both existing and prospective partners.
  • Deliver market and customer insights to strengthen business integration and long-term cooperation.
  • Drive the growth of existing accounts and acquisition of new customers and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across commercial, logistics, finance, and operations teams to exceed customer expectations.
  • Monitor market trends and identify new business opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with evolving industry standards and regulations.

Candidate Profile:

  • Degree (Bachelor's/Master's) in a relevant technical or business discipline.
  • Proven experience in B2B sales and business development in recycling, batteries, or metals industries.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with a results-driven mindset.
  • Industry network in waste, recycling, or logistics is highly beneficial.
  • Understanding of battery technologies in production or recycling is an advantage.
  • Ability to develop profitable solutions for complex commercial challenges.
  • Strong commitment to HSE and quality standards.
  • Experience working in a multicultural team environment.
