Hybrid role 1 day in Birmingham
An exciting opportunity to join a highly successful food business as a Category Manager. This is a newly created role.
To participate in the implementation of a defined strategy
To comply with Procurement policies and procedures
Ensure regulatory and legislative requirements are met for individual categories
Accountable / responsible for delivery of agreed targets and objectives
Conduct strategic category review with line manager for all sub category areas with a view to achieving savings (surcharge) targets, improving quality and service levels and achieving all other business objectives (e.g. value chain, CSR, innovation)
Implement long term strategic category plans
Complete annual budget for categories and then re-forecast against this on a monthly basis
Be the category expert and first contact for responsible spend areas
Track commodity pricing information. Market vs contractual position. Use data to support commercial and business objectives
Develop and implement clear commodity management strategies where appropriate to identify and mitigate risk
Manage ongoing supplier relationships at a senior level
Establish and manage strategic relationships with suppliers, setting and implementing performance targets ensuring these are met and that the strategic relationship is leveraged at a senior level to maximize efficiencies and value
Work closely with senior business stakeholders, including the relevant Group companies as appropriate, in order to fully understand the business needs
Supporting and coaching less experienced members of the team as appropriate and deputising for the Head of Procurement where appropriate
- Previous experience working with the waste category within procurement
- Previous supervisory or management experience is required
