The Vehicle Diagnostic Authoring Team Lead will join a friendly and collaborative team to develop and deliver technical information for a well-known automotive OEM.

We’re looking for dynamic, engaging individuals with leadership qualities and/or supervisory experience, who have either Mechanical / Automotive Engineering, Master Vehicle Technician or Vehicle Technician experience. EV/Hybrid experience would also be beneficial.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be the contact point for team members to achieve and deliver projects efficiently and meet your team goals.

  • Predominantly you will support all aspects of diagnostic technical authoring, testing and solution development towards guided diagnostics.
  • Diagnosis of complex faults based on initial symptoms / Diagnostic Trouble Code’s (DTC)
  • Interpret complex engineering information and deliver content in an easily understood and unambiguous way.
  • Determine and author the process workflow required to resolve faults which will be implemented into a guided diagnostic system.
  • Manage and publish the content into the diagnostic software for intended use by dealer / technician.
  • Liaise with engineering stakeholders to gather information.
  • In addition and with the support of the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and successful delivery of projects for the following teams:
  • Diagnostic Authoring
  • Description and Operation (D&O)
  • Electrical Information
  • eLearning

Essential Skills:

  • Hands on vehicle workshop experience is key – the role involves diagnosing initial symptoms related to Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s) to provide guided solutions.
  • Be able to visualise workshop diagnostic processes in a digital engineering environment, so having a feel for realistic work parameters in automotive diagnosis is a must.
  • Experience using automotive diagnostic software.
  • Analytical skills and experience of troubleshooting to diagnose faults in a logical and concise manner.
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of hybrid, electric vehicles and internal combustion engines.
  • Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the role. We will provide training on all Technical Authoring software if needed.
  • Organisational and project management skills; your responsibilities will include understanding and implementing how your work interacts with a vehicle programme’s product development lifecycle.
  • Experience of leading or supervising a team
  • Understanding team members’ strengths and weaknesses to support growth and development
  • Providing training and mentoring
  • Attending appraisals and giving constructive feedback
  • Providing direction and guidance to motivate good working practices
  • An eye for detail and accuracy
  • Good problem solving and evaluation techniques.
  • The ability to multitask and balance frequently changing priorities is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills with all business levels, from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Degree or relevant/applicable experience
  • Full Driving License

Desired but not essential:

  • Trained in Simplified Technical English
  • Diagnostics authoring experience
