IT Infrastructure Consultant – Inside IR35 – Abingdon, Oxford


3 Months – 4 days per week – Onsite – Inside IR35 – up to £425


IT Systems Lead required for a leading client based in Abingdon. My client is currently seeking a Information Systems & Technology Lead to be responsible for supporting and developing internal digital equipment, related processes, and documentation to ensure an efficient and effective digital/technology solution for the business. The ideal candidate would have extensive 3rd Line/Level 3 support experience around network/server infrastructure.


This role involves collaborating with key functions and engaging with the IS&T team to manage and implement internal changes, resulting in measurable improvements in business performance.


Key skills and responsibilities:


  • Strong 3rd Line/Level 3 support experience
  • Extensive experience surrounding network/server infrastructure
  • IT Systems experience
  • Maintaining and managing all PC, laptop, Chromebook, and server workstations, as well as firewall and proxy systems.
  • Configuring and managing servers, including AD, DNS, DHCP, and GPO settings.
  • Specifying and procuring hardware and software.
  • Managing backups, data archiving, and ensuring business continuity.
  • Ensuring data and cybersecurity measures are in place and effective.
  • Maintaining current and future certifications required by the business.
  • Managing the AWS environment.
  • Play a key role in shaping the long-term vision for potential improvements, contributing to the development of a successful strategy that supports business growth.
  • Take a significant role in influencing the improvement plan, detailing current and future activities, resource requirements, and ensuring timely and on-budget delivery according to the approved plan.
  • Assess and accurately estimate the costs of future improvements, including both resource and equipment expenses, to align purchases with the approved implementation plan.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of all internal processes, supporting documentation, and templates, with the ability to propose and implement managed changes where necessary.
  • SQL Server experience
  • Overseeing network infrastructure, including UTM devices, VLAN configurations, and switches.
  • Managing user accounts and Active Directory services.
  • Handling software installations, licensing, and updates.
  • Overseeing vendor and supplier relationships.
  • Supporting IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades and IT service migrations.
