About the Role
Liqueo are looking for a reliable Finance Assistant to support the Management Accountant and Financial Controller to process and prepare financial data. This role would include supporting the following functions; purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciling bank accounts, manging staff expenses and improving accounting procedures. Supporting the team with preparing forecasts, budgets, cashflows and management accounts. There would also be a requirement to assist in credit control, supplier management and liaising with our accountants and payroll contractors.
To be successful in this role, you will have excellent attention to detail, be proactive in your approach and be able to problem solve effectively. Due to the exciting fast pace environment of a start-up, the employee would need to be able to adapt and be open to introducing and changing processes, as we build structure in the department. We would require the position to support month end and to help produce management accounts which a strategist mindset.
Responsibilities
- Support the managing of the finance mailboxes on a daily basis.
- Support the month end process, including journals and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Supporting the management accountant and head of departments with financial forecasting and budgeting.
- Supporting the Management Accountant and Financial Controller in the coordination and preparation of the budget, financial forecasts and variances.
- Supporting the preparation and publishing of timely monthly management accounts with variance analysis.
- Support the managing of Xero and the chart of accounts for Liqueo Ltd and Liqueo Inc.
- Processing supplier invoices, client remittances, staff expenses and bank reconciliations.
- Supporting the coordination with UK and US based accountants.
- Weekly time chasing and invoicing preparation.
- Assisting with managing project time booking.
- Support the management of the fixed asset register and reconcile to BambooHR.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Support the preparation of the quarterly VAT returns and ensure the correct VAT codes are used on a daily basis.
- Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist in weekly credit control processes.
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory accounts.
- Seek to innovate and establish new working practices to continually develop our business.
Requirements and skills
- Proven working experience as a Finance Assistant.
- 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
- Level 3 or above AAT (or currently studying for).
- Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, remittances and staff expenses.
- Experience with Xero or other accounting software with transferable skills.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills, preferably with Xero.
- Proficient in excel with formula knowledge for example, pivot tables and v-look ups etc.
- Needs to be a self-starter and technically proficient.
