Brightsparks, an industry-leading digital marketing agency specialising in behaviour change for social good, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to manage end-to-end client acquisition and build upon our existing portfolio of large charity and public sector clients


This role is perfect for a Business Development Manager with experience of identifying and securing new business opportunities and producing high-quality proposals and sales documents.

The role will be a permanent contract at 35 hours per week.


The role will work on a hybrid basis with dedicated time required each week in our York city centre office as well as opportunity for remote working too. All of the projects this role will touch will be social purpose projects so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in people's lives every day.


Interviews will be held on Thursday 26th September and Friday 27th September.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and secure new leads and clients for Brightsparks through targeted outreach and networking.
  • Design and implement sales and marketing strategies to drive growth and align efforts with business goals.
  • Manage the entire lead generation to client onboarding process, ensuring successful proposals meet growth targets.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to market services and deliver quality proposals that meet client needs.
  • Ensure proposals meet client requirements, and conduct post-proposal analysis to drive improvements.
  • Provide leadership, management, and accountability (LMA) to staff and contractors.
  • Maintain and develop business development tools, systems, and processes (e.g., CRM, bid tracker).
  • Meet quarterly targets for new leads and proposals as per company scorecard.


Required Experience:

  • 3 years business development experience which must include sales and marketing experience.
  • Experience developing marketing strategies that have led to successful sales and return on investment.
  • Experience developing and maintaining business development systems and processes.
  • Experience project managing end to end business development projects, including research and lead generation stages through to contracting.
  • Experience working collaboratively with colleagues across a range of disciplines to gather the information required to develop quality marketing and sales collateral and client proposals.
