Key Responsibilities of a Private Client Legal Assistant

Answering the telephone/taking messages/making appointments

Dealing with clients and other people calling at the office

Progressing cases as requested by the fee earner

Word processing; Sending and receiving e-mails; Filing papers and computer documents; Photocopying, faxing and scanning; Linking incoming post to appropriate case files; Sending and receiving letters and faxes; Liaising with court staff and other third parties as required; and Other tasks as required by the fee earner.



Key Competencies of a Private Client Paralegal

Good working knowledge of Computers and Word software

General administration/office skills/telephone skills

Time management skills and ability to prioritise own workload

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English both spoken and written

Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with clients

Ability to work as part of a team

Experience of using office equipment, e.g. photocopiers, scanners, fax machines

Diary management and organisational skills

Knowledge of forms/layouts used in legal documentation

General knowledge of the legal and court systems relating to Private Client work
