A leading global law firm is looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Conflicts to lead and manage the conflicts resolution function from their London office. The Head of Conflicts role will involve overseeing and resolving complex conflicts of interest and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.


Key Responsibilities for the Head of Conflicts role:

  • Lead the conflicts resolution function, ensuring that all conflicts of interest are identified, assessed, and managed in accordance with regulatory requirements and firm policies.
  • Work closely with the firm's COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice), Practice Group Heads, and the Heads of Risk Management and Financial Crime to ensure conflicts issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Working with the Global Head of Business Acceptance and Conflicts Management in shaping the conflicts and client intake capability within the firm to support the needs of the business.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments on potential and existing client engagements, identifying areas of concern and implementing appropriate conflict mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain conflicts policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with the firm’s risk management framework and industry best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to partners, associates, and other staff on conflicts-related matters, promoting awareness and understanding of conflicts management across the firm.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the conflicts resolution function and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified lawyer with significant experience in conflicts resolution within a law firm.
  • Deep understanding of the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) Handbook, anti-money laundering regulations, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage a function independently and work effectively as part of a broader risk management team.
  • Excellent ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders, driving action and challenging inaction.
