Job summary

Do you have a passion for working in community? Are you keen to continue to develop your skills in both dysphagia and communication, working alongside a friendly and supportive team? We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in working with a diverse community caseload, including in rehabilitation medicine (which includes acquired neurological conditions and brain injury) and general community in North Lincolnshire. This role may also offer the opportunity to work with, and develop skills in supporting adults with dysfluency across North and North East Lincolnshire, but this is not essential to this role

We're looking for an autonomous practitioner who shares the team's passion for delivering high quality interventions and embraces our Trust values of Compassion, Honesty, Respect and Teamwork. You will be well-supported by our wider SLT team in conjunction with the North and North East Lincolnshire SLT Team Lead and Clinical Expert SLTs. Your patients will have access to our weekly Videofluoroscopy clinics and there would be opportunities for you to develop skills in VFS using the MBSImP protocol. We are also currently developing our inpatient FEES service.

Main duties of the job

This post can be offered as flexible hours across the week and some remote working may also be possible - please make contact with us to discuss. We offer regular supervision, joint working, training and CPD opportunities to further develop your clinical skills. The Trust offers a range of Quality Improvement training opportunities with built-in support to work on your chosen service improvement project. Alongside colleagues in the team, you will provide clinical leadership to more junior SLT's and support student placements.

The wider SLT service encompasses colleagues with similar roles in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and wider group relations with HUTH, providing regular opportunities for joint working. Our inpatient dysphagia service expands across Saturday and bank holiday working and, dependant on clinical skills this post may be required to contribute to this rota.

The postholder is to both provide and support a high standard of care within Speech and Language Therapy, undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To be responsible for providing a specialist service comprising assessment, management and treatment for adults with disorders of communication and swallowing (dysphagia) dependent on specific role.

To manage a defined caseload of patients using advanced evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent HCPC Registered Registered member of RCSLT Wide range of CPD activities, esp. related to specialist area Postgraduate qualification or training in Dysphagia

Desirable

Relevant Masters level studies Clinical Supervisor training

Experience & Abilities
