About the role
An academic with specialist skills in evidence synthesis including systematic reviews, is sought to join the team supporting students on the MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences and Mental Health Sciences Research at UCL’s Division of Psychiatry. These courses have been established since and provide a broad range of options for advanced study in mental health. There are pathways appropriate both for psychiatrists and other mental health professionals wishing to undertake advanced study and for graduates in psychology wishing to further their knowledge of clinical aspects of mental health. Most of our international intake of around are in the latter category, many aspiring either to be clinical researchers or clinicians (especially clinical psychologists). The course is very over-subscribed, resulting in a particularly high academic standard among the academic students. Many research projects are eventually published.
This post holder will take a lead on aspects of the course involving evidence synthesis, including teaching on systematic reviews and support for projects using relevant methods. They will also have a major role in support for research projects, including involvement in identifying and allocating projects and supervisors. Along with the rest of the teaching team, they will participate in delivery of teaching in keeping with their skills, personal tutoring, support for a study group (a small group providing academic and peer support to a mixed group of students), promotion and management of our programmes, and project supervision.
The successful candidate may request to spend 20% of their time on their own research, or on other career development activities separate from the MSc. This may be increased if the post holder is successful in obtaining research funding.
