Description

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Overall responsibility and accountability for delivery of the LISA project and leadership of the integrated project team reporting directly to Space Imaging GM with functional dotted line to Head of Bids & Programmes

Responsible for developing and managing the project strategy and scope

Develop the project governance structure which outlines the roles and responsibilities and processes for the project team, subcontractor and other stakeholders

Manage the project team, subcontractor and stakeholder relationships

Lead and coordinate the project to make sure work is being done properly and is on time and within budget

Develop, manage and maintain the plan that captures all milestones for the project within MS Project and regularly monitor project performance against baseline

Accountable for budget and monitors finances to ensure the project is being kept within the budget

Recommend changes to keep the project on track

Make alternative plans if initial project planning is inadequate

Solve problems and make decisions that arise during the project lifecycle. Analyse the root causes, impacts, and alternatives of the problems, and consult with the team, relevant stakeholders and experts to find the best solutions

Make timely and informed decisions that balance the trade-offs between the project constraints and the stakeholder expectations

Communicate regularly with the customer, team, subcontractors, business partners and other stakeholders to keep them updated on how the project is progressing to ensure their expectations and needs are aligned with the project

Develop the structure and organisation for each phase of the project and will be responsible for assembling and motivating the team

Review, approve or reject proposals / options

Ensure that the project quality, risks, and opportunities are being managed. This means identifying, assessing, and mitigating the potential threats and issues that could affect the project performance, scope, schedule or budget

Monitors and controls the quality standards and criteria of the project deliverables, ensuring that they meet the requirements of the project

Report and evaluate the progress and performance of the project. Prepare the project status reports, dashboards and the necessary presentations to the stakeholders highlighting the key accomplishments, risks and issues

Skills & Experience Essential Qualifications:

Experience leading and delivering complex technical projects with subcontractors

Experience as a Project or Programme Director within a highly regulated industry

Experience/Qualifications

Proven experience working in a complex business, managing high value complex bids and projects Good understanding of project/programme management techniques and methods Experience of contractual negotiations and contract management Excellent organisational and communication skills
