Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Clerk /Typist within the Older Person's Mental Health Team based at the Ysbyty Cwm Cynon.
Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work, along with an ability to deal with distressed and irate clients/carers with sensitivity and diplomacy. The successful candidate will have previous office and front of house experience, ideally in a similar role within the NHS, Social Care or other health related environment. A good general education, educated to 3 GCSEs or equivalent, as well as word processing/typing are required. Knowledge of Health Board IT systems to include Myrddin, WCCIS and FACE would be desirable although full training will be given.
The successful candidate will be able to work in a challenging environment and have a sensitive, caring and non-judgemental attitude to issues faced by people with Mental Health problems.
Main duties of the job
The Clerk/Typist will provide an efficient clerical and typing service to support clinicians/professionals primarily within the Older Persons team. The role will also include data entry and outpatient clinic reception as and when required.
The Clerk/Typist may also be required to cover at any site within the Mental Health Directorate as directed by their line manager
The Clerk/Typist will need to liaise in a professional manner with colleagues, visitors and patients and undertake a range of duties to support the smooth running of the department.
The emphasis within the Service will be on team working, sharing of knowledge and experience for the overall benefit of the organisation.
Also to ensure that through personal development the postholder should assist in the implementation of Health Board policies and procedures in order to achieve the Board objectives.

Working as part of a team, organise own daily work processes in providing a clerical and typing service to the Mental Health Unit Teams
Ensure that all audio/copy typing is completed within departmental timescales
Ensure all client correspondence and reports are filed within required timescales
Maintain filing systems
Process incoming referrals liaising with core team members
Receipt and distribution of mail for the department/team
Maintain databases and booking systems as and when required
Undertake photocopying as requested
To fax as directed
Ensure all casenotes/client files are tracked appropriately as required
To assist in departmental audits as required
To liaise with other colleagues/departments as required in a timely manner
Ensure adequate stationery and stock levels for the team, replenishing as required

Essential
3 GCSEs or equivalent RSAII Typing or equivalent relevant experience

Medical terminology NVQII in Business Administration and/or Customer Care
