Integrated Controls Manager – PMO
About the role
We’ve an amazing new opportunity to become our new Integrated Controls Manager, reporting into the Head of PMO within our Assets Programme Management Office (PMO). We see this role is essential to realising our National Leader ambitions and we’re looking for a motivated professional with experience in a fast-paced PMO or programme controls environment.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring all projects and programmes are effectively planned, resourced, and managed, along with ensuring that best practice controls are implemented as the foundation for the delivery of Northumbrian Water’s capital programme.
We’re looking for you to take accountability for the continuous improvement of planning, risk, and cost management controls, whilst also providing the necessary rigour and control around our Investment and Benefits Management capability. You’ll act as the PMO’s representative for planning, cost, and risk management, attending and contributing to meetings on behalf of the PMO, along with owning the integrated controls model and ensuring consistency of approach across the delivery programme.
We’re looking for you to contribute to a flexible and resilient PMO in role-modelling collaborative behaviours, shared learning, and supporting routine activities spanning adjacent functions, ensuring optimal performance of the PMO and its members through effective line management, learning and development and leadership.
About you
We’re looking for you to have proven experience of developing and delivering capital programmes through the application of best practice governance and integrated controls. This should include a strong understanding of investment planning, workforce planning, schedule management, cost estimation, risk management and benefits management.
You’ll have proven experience of line managing high-performing individuals or teams to a successful end, recognising the importance of training, development, safety, and wellbeing.
You’ll have proven stakeholder management skills to influence the project and programme community in adopting best practice and managing relationships across varied disciplines and levels.
We’re looking for you to have proven experience of Microsoft packages, including MS SharePoint, Word, Excel, and tools used to support successful delivery of projects and programmes, information management, and excellent data management. We’re looking for you to have experience of data analysis and information management to support senior level decision making. This includes a keen attention to detail and ability to scrutinise and manipulate data sets.
You’ll have proven experience of managing and responding to complex problems in a fast-paced environment, and proven problem-solving capability, along with experience of delivering outputs as part of a team and collaborating to meet delivery objectives successfully.
If this sounds like you, then we’d love to see your application come through to us.
Here at Northumbrian Water/Essex & Suffolk Water, we embrace and value Diversity, Inclusion and Equity which means bringing your full self to work. We encourage and welcome all applications, as we believe and strive to be an equal opportunity employer committed in having a diverse community represented within all our teams, structures, and organisation.
We have our colleague network groups, including Rainbow Support Network (LGBT+), REACH (Race, Ethnicity, and Cultural Heritage), WiSTEM (Women in STEM) and Thisability (disability and neurodiversity) networks too.
About Asset Management & PMO
The Assets Directorate understand the health of our assets, invest wisely and maintain them to continue to provide safe, reliable and resilient services to our customers today and in the future.
We have launched an ambitious transformation programme to drive a real step change in how we deliver our capital projects. This requires the development of a high-performing PMO to provide a central controls function delivering impactful performance reporting, estimating, schedule and risk management, and governance. The overarching objective of the transformation programme is to transition from a hybrid PMO consisting of NWL staff and contractor support, to an entirely inhouse model.
