About the role:As External Communications Manager, you’ll work across press, social media and wider content for Simplyhealth and its dental business, Denplan.From helping set the strategy, through to ensuring the delivery of first-rate press campaigns that set the agenda at a national level, you’ll be working in a small but mighty team to deliver our external communications. 

It's a varied role and your days will involve delivering exciting new media campaigns; developing and growing our social media and thought leadership capabilities; and leading public affairs work for Denplan with our public affairs agency. You’ll manage a press agency and work collaboratively with the wider Marketing team, plus many other internal and external stakeholders including Executive Leadership, our Clinical Team and our charitable partners.

Reporting into the Head of Communications, you’ll help define and lead a multi-channel external communications strategy for the Simplyhealth group. Through this, you’ll support our purpose whilst simultaneously driving growth and building our reputation and impact. You’ll also line manage the Communications Executive that works across internal and external communications; providing professional development, coaching and support.

About You

To be considered, you’ll need to have: 

Experience of shaping and delivering a multi-channel communications strategy; defining objectives, plans and goals to meet business needs and stakeholder ambitions. Excellent communication skills – particularly impeccable writing skills with the ability to be a strong storyteller.  A strong understanding of media relations, with experience of working in a media relations team or in a journalistic capacity  A robust knowledge and experience of developing and leading press campaigns, plus creating thought leadership content for different audiences. Demonstrable experience of leading activity that can meet the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.  An excellent working knowledge of public relations, thought leadership, social media and crisis communications.  Experience of agency management  Strong stakeholder management skills, experience working at senior levels (C-suite) within a multi-stakeholder environment.
