Our client is the UK's most activeprovider of long-term capital to small and mid-sized companies.Since its inception in 2011, the firm has invested over 2.5 billionin a diverse portfolio of more than 500 growing companies acrossvarious sectors, including notable names like Gousto, EmmaBridgewater, Elvie, Joe&Seph's, and Seasalt. With atalented team of over 190 professionals operating from 16 officesnationwide, they invest at all stages of growth, from early toquoted, typically investing between 1m and 20m for a minority stakein businesses.

As theESG Manager you will play a crucial role in advancing the firm'sapproach to sustainable growth, with a strong emphasis on managingclimate and nature-based risks and opportunities. This roleinvolves supporting the internal ESG performance and workingclosely with portfolio companies to drive sustainable practices andcompliance with relevant standards. The mix of work will be 40%internal and 60% portfolio-focused. It offers a fantasticopportunity for professional development in ESG, allowing theincumbent to lead exciting projects and gain valuable experience insustainability strategy, risk management, and stakeholderengagement.
Your key responsibilities willinclude contributing to the development and implementation ofsustainability strategies, particularly in environmentalperformance, and understanding the impact of climate andnature-based risks on both the business and its investmentportfolio.
In the role of ESG Manager, youwill ensure compliance with UK and EU-focused reporting standardssuch as the UK Sustainable Disclosure Requirements (SDR), TaskForce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), andTaskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). You willcollaborate with portfolio companies to enhance their ESGperformance, aligning with the firm's goals and leveraging theirexpertise to provide effective solutions.
Therole also involves supporting communication on ESG performance andlearnings for both internal and external stakeholders. Continuouslearning and staying updated with the latest trends, regulations,and best practices in climate and environmental risk management areintegral parts of this position.
The idealcandidate will have a strong understanding and interest in ESG,particularly in climate and nature-based risks and their impact oncompanies. Familiarity with UK and EU reporting standards isessential, along with the ability to engage effectively withinternal teams and external partners. Excellent analytical,communication, and reporting skills are required. Experience inclimate risk modeling and analysis, as well as a solid knowledge ofthe Social and Governance aspects of ESG, would be highlydesirable.
