Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Motor vehicle technician to join our team, working as part of the Fleet Maintenance Department for the North West Ambulance Service. The current vacancy is at our Haydock Workshop, maintaining the wide variety of vehicle fleet and associated equipment that operates within the large Merseyside geographic area.

The hours of work are in line with the current shift system, being split across two teams, spanning a seven-day week. Operational requirements for the workshops being 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday and 7:00am to 6:00pm Sat and Sun. The working week for each of the teams are across a two-week average.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be joining our dedicated team, playing a key part in the maintenance of the Trust's fleet, enjoying a professional environment with great job satisfaction, and the ability to continually grow your professional portfolio as your career develops within North West Ambulance Service.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Essential

City and Guilds certificate in motor vehicle technology or NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualifications and experience Good standard of education. Minimum 3 GCSE or equivalent. Full Driving Licence Evidence of Continued Professional Development.

Driving Licence C1 + D1 (Work towards MOT Tester
