Applications are invited for a Research Associate/Fellow in Responsible Innovation in Health

You will be working as a research associate/fellow on topics of responsible innovation in health. You will work alongside interdisciplinary researchers in various research projects of the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham () and linked to Responsible AI UK (). You will work closely with the Responsible Digital Futures initiative (ponsibledigital-

futures.org/).

Your work will entail the planning and execution of responsibility-by-design and support of project management of the EU funded project STRATEGIC (); working with EU and African Partners. This position also entails conducting research on brain data governance contributing to the Welcome Trust funded project BRIDGE ( This involves conducting both primary and secondary research to achieve the objectives of these projects. You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.

You should have experience of undertaking responsible innovation or related research, for examples in areas such as ethics of technology or science and technology studies. Experience of relevant data collection and analysis approaches and tools such as NVivo and/or SPSS is expected.

You will be expected to undertake independent research as well as working as part of a team - this will include using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research, and being responsible for writing up their work in order to contribute to published outcomes and other project outputs. 

You must have a PhD degree (or near completion) in a subject area of relevance for responsible innovation in autonomous systems.

The post is offered on a full-time (36.25 hour), fixed-term basis available until 14th April 2026. Job share arrangements may be considered.
