The Department of Paediatric Critical Care at The Royal London Children's Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, is seeking to appoint a Consultant Paediatric Intensivist (10 PAs). This is a 6m locum appointment in the first instance. The successful candidate will join a team of eight existing Paediatric Intensivists, to make nine consultants (1:8 on call).

Main duties of the job

The post is based at The Royal London Children's Hospital located within The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, London. The Paediatric Critical Care unit opened in 2007 and is steadily expanding with approx. 420 admissions per year. The equipment and facilities on the PICU allow the development of new treatments and management strategies for critically ill children, and the unit has recently increased capacity from 6 to 10 beds. It is a busy and exciting time to join the team.

The Children's Hospital is a tertiary unit and major trauma centre with referral pathways across North East London and Essex. As such The Paediatric Critical Care Unit receives referrals from a wide variety of sources with significant elective and non-elective demands. This is an excellent position for any consultant looking for additional experience provided in a busy tertiary hospital.
