We are seeking to appoint a Chief Operating Officer who will lead the delivery of high-quality clinical services and inspire and lead our operational teams to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality services. Working with our staff, stakeholders, and Board, you will shape and drive our improvement and transformation programmes whilst leading operational delivery and performance in line with constitutional standards in a challenging environment.

Main duties of the job

An inclusive leader with a depth of experience in both strategic and operational service delivery at or close to Board level, you will also bring a track record of effective partnership working and of embedding robust governance processes. Bringing sound judgement, complemented by resilience, tenacity, and political acumen; you will adeptly navigating complex issues within a dynamic stakeholder environment. Most importantly you will embody our values; partnering, ambitious, caring, and trusted, and be committed to supporting our staff to achieve our priorities. About us

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford, Wrekin and mid Wales. We are a values-led organisation of almost 7,000 colleagues with a vision as a Trust that strives to provide high quality, safe care for our patients in an environment which our staff are proud to work in. We are a central partner in the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin ICB.

Our Hospitals Transformation Programme has been approved and we are currently developing the final business case, allowing our key specialist services to be consolidated onto single sites. This is a once in a generation opportunity to transform services for our populations and to work with partners to ensure we maximise the future wellbeing of our communities and our colleagues. We are addressing improvements at pace and have delivered over 90% of the Ockenden report's recommended actions. We are continuing to work hard to improve the quality of care and create a transparent and accountable environment for our staff to provide safe, compassionate care.
