Job summary
To provide skilled Scrub Practitioner support to the patient and surgical team throughout the perioperative patient pathway.
The post holder will be required to provide planned care for patients undergoing anaesthetic and surgical procedures. Theatre practitioners are experienced in Perioperative care practice and will assist in the organization and leadership of the theatre team, including the emergency team at night and at weekends.
Main duties of the job
We cover specialities such as Orthopaedics, General, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Urology, Breast and Plastic Surgery.
You will join an enthusiastic team dedicated to providing a high standard of patient care and safety. Proven scrub and or anaesthetic skills would be an advantage but not necessary as full competency training will be provided for the successful candidate.

Job responsibilities
The Band 5 Registered Practitioner requires a broad knowledge and skill base including communication and team working skills, in order that they contribute to the smooth running of the theatre department.
The Band 5 Registered Practitioner will actively seek out learning opportunities for both self and others, providing support and assessment to junior members of the team and NVQ candidates.
The Band 5 Theatre Practitioner will gain the necessary skills and experience to develop the necessary skills to participate effectively in the 24hr service as required.
As with all other members of staff, the Band 5 Theatre Practitioner must perform within their scope of practice and not exceed the boundaries of competence. They will remain accountable for their actions and omissions.
In the absence of senior staff, the Band 5 Theatre Practitioner will oversee the running of the list whilst promoting a positive standard of healthcare to patients, relatives, carers and staff.
The Registered Practitioner will supervise juniors, support them and offer feedback on performance as necessary.
