RWE is looking for a full time Development Project Lead within the Offshore Wind Development Team with a focus on delivery of one of the UK Offshore Windfarm Projects in our portfolio towards a successful Financial Investment Decision (FID).

In the role as Development Project Lead you will be working on specific project(s), in which you will either be reporting functionally to a Development Project Director (with your first deployment being in this capacity on our Boreas project within our Norfolk cluster) or acting as the sole Project Lead. You will be responsible for the progression and coordination of the project. In brief, your responsibility on Boreas will be to develop & mature a new strategy for the project, leveraging the resources and knowledge available within the existing Norfolk cluster team.

Your role will be complex as your team will be located both locally and within the global functions for technical and commercial expertise. In the role you will form relationships with external stakeholders which includes suppliers, partners and governmental authorities. You will be responsible for the development of the project from its current development stage until the Financial Investment Decision (FID).

Offshore Development UK & Ireland is your home team comprising of Project Directors/Managers/Leads, Bid Managers, Investment Managers and Business Development Managers in the region. You will be assigned into project teams in regions within the matrix organisation. Responding to the company’s growth pipeline your project(s) will primarily be situated in your home country (though you may be asked to support or supervise other projects further afield, subject to the demands of the business). Activities will include external representation and potentially international travel. Your role will be complex and you will apply your commercial and technical expertise, plus harness the expertise of the project team and the global functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Be responsible for the health and safety of the project, for enforcing the principles and conditions RWE policies and seeking at all times to ensure a safe environment for project staff and third-party members including the general public;Understand and optimize the business case together with your team;Responsible for procurement of construction contracts that meet safety and quality requirements plus align to program and budget, to support the FID business case;Progress and coordinate the development of one of the UK Offshore Windfarm Projects in our portfolio until a successful FID;Contribute to the effective management of the assigned project in a Joint Venture context (if applicable) including building the day to day relationships with shareholders to the benefit of the project;Be responsible for all project management matters including project resourcing, schedule and budget follow-up in accordance with the project programme;Represent RWE Offshore and your assigned project on offshore related topics at local, regional, national and international stakeholder events, in networks and towards respective authorities;Manage project activity to build and maintain a stable and effective project team with links into the organisation;Ensure that the project activities during the development and pre-construction phases meets the project requirements and conditions;Provide advice, direction and instruction to the project to ensure RWE’s value is maximised;Deputise for the Development Project Director of the project.

Experience & Skills:

Extensive experience of overseeing and driving the delivery of, or components of, large scale multi-million Euro infrastructure projects;Extensive knowledge of wind energy, ideally offshore wind development and/or wind development in the UK;Proven experience of overseeing and developing a complex, multi-functional team;Strong analytical skills, self-motivated, structured and creative working approach;Significant ability to maintain own performance, with a significant focus on delivery and an ability to balance a varied and complex workload, whilst producing high quality results in demanding timeframes;Proven ability to balance conflicting requirements on quality, costs and time;Demonstrate an ability to explain complex and detailed project issues in a straightforward way;Hands-on approach, flexible, confident and in an open-minded manner;Proven ability to persuade, challenge and build credibility at all levels and across functions of the business;Ability to be proactive and take responsibility for a wide range of matters, while responding to business demands;Advanced interpersonal skills, particularly for leading/participating in virtual teams drawn from across different functions.

Qualifications:

University degree (in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business or equivalent necessary);Project management qualification and business level English or other language skills are a beneficial attribute
