Cyber Security Operations Analyst
About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level. The security services and technology provided by NSS Digital and Security (DaS) are critical operational components, used 24/7 365 days a year.
The Post:
The postholder’s role and remit will include being part of a team providing operational support, communication, and incident management, to all NHS Scotland health boards to facilitate their cyber security and risk management activities, meeting their strategic, regulatory and compliance requirements, and securing day to day operational objectives and functions.
The postholder will also contribute to the design, configuration and operation of multiple cyber security technologies used nationally in NHS Scotland to detect and respond to security threats.
The Candidate:
The candidate should have experience:
• Working in a busy national security operations centre, preferably in healthcare providing a service 24/7, 365 days a year, or an equivalent IT team in a large organisation
• Delivering and operating IT infrastructure (networks, servers, desktop, etc.)
• Being involved in security operations functions, including: Cyber Security Incident Response and Management; Vulnerability Management; Threat Intelligence; Security Architecture.
• Contributing to the design and management of security operations, processes, and technology.
• working within a multi-disciplinary, high-calibre staff.
The candidate should have a degree in related subject, ideally gained working in relevant role within NHS environment and have an in-depth knowledge of digital and information security.
The candidate should have good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. They should also be able to work with minimal supervision and should demonstrate good team working skills. The candidate needs to be flexible and be able to deal with conflicting demands, whilst under pressure. The candidate needs to understand the importance of effective communication skills and confidentiality.
In-depth working knowledge of office software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
All of our Cyber Security personnel must hold security clearance SC level as a minimum. To meet National Security Vetting requirements, you must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years for SC clearance. Candidates who were posted abroad for service with HM Government, Armed Forces or within a UK government role - will still be considered.
Please make sure you meet these requirements before applying for this role. You don’t need to have SC already, however, failure to achieve the requirements for SC after offer, will result in the job offer being withdrawn.
