Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to support medical personnel in delivering comprehensive care to patients at Willows Medical Practice. Chronic Disease Management Immunisations Infection Control: Lead infection control efforts within the practice, implementing protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment. Health and Lifestyle Counseling Cervical Screening General Nursing Duties Sexual Health and Contraception Clinical Administration: Health Screenings Patient Advice Equipment and Supplies Management Pathological Specimens: Collect, store, and dispatch pathological specimens, including intravenous blood samples, swabs, and smears, following appropriate training. Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of associated equipment.

Main duties of the job

Patient Assessment and Care

Conducting Health Assessments: Practice Nurses are responsible for evaluating patients' health through comprehensive assessments, including the measurement of vital signs and the collection of medical histories. Chronic Disease Management: They provide ongoing care and management for patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension, helping to monitor and stabilize their conditions. Immunisations Health Education and Preventative Care:

Practice Nurses play a crucial role in educating patients on a wide range of health issues, including diet, smoking cessation, and general lifestyle advice to prevent illness and promote wellness.

Preventive Screenings General Nursing Duties Infection Control Contraception and Sexual Health Advice: Providing expert advice on contraception and sexual health, including the administration of contraceptive injections and the management of related health issues. Administrative Responsibilities: Maintaining Patient Records Managing Supplies Audit and Reporting: Participating in clinical audits and ensuring compliance with practice standards and protocols. Team Collaboration: Practice Nurses work closely with doctors, other nurses, and administrative staff to provide cohesive care, often acting as a liaison between different parts of the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of associated equipment. Professional and Administrative Duties: Clinical Documentation: Accurately record all consultations, treatments, and patient interactions in the clinical computer system, ensuring comprehensive and up-to-date patient records. Documentation and Reporting: Complete all necessary documentation related to patient care and practice registration. Collect and maintain statistical data required for regular and ad hoc reporting. Practice Meetings: Actively participate in practice meetings and contribute to discussions on practice philosophy, strategy, and policy. Assist in the development and implementation of clinical protocols. Audits: Conduct monthly audits related to the role to ensure compliance with practice standards and identify areas for improvement. Liaison and Professional Development: Inter-Agency Coordination: Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other healthcare agencies, practice staff, and external disciplines, while upholding patient confidentiality.
