Job Summary

The Willows Medical Practice is seeking a skilled and compassionate GP Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our primary care team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assessment, Screening, and Treatment: Conduct thorough assessments, screenings, and treatment services, providing patients with personalized health education and advice.
• Chronic Disease Management: Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension, working closely with patients to develop and implement effective care plans.
• Immunisations: Administer routine, travel, and seasonal vaccinations, ensuring patients receive the necessary protection against infectious diseases.
• Infection Control: Lead infection control efforts within the practice, implementing protocols to maintain a safe and clean clinical environment.
• Health and Lifestyle Counseling: Provide patients with expert advice on healthy lifestyle choices, including smoking cessation, diet, and exercise.
• Cervical Screening: Conduct cervical screenings and provide patients with personalized results and recommendations.
• General Nursing Duties: Perform a range of general nursing duties, including patient assessments, medication management, and wound care.
• Sexual Health and Contraception: Provide patients with expert advice and services related to sexual health and contraception, adhering to current clinical guidelines.

Clinical Administration:

• Health Screenings: Conduct health screenings and provide patients with personalized results and recommendations.
• Patient Advice: Offer patients guidance on general health care and minor ailments, escalating to general practitioners when necessary.
• Equipment and Supplies Management: Oversee the maintenance and availability of supplies and equipment in the treatment room and other clinical areas.
• Pathological Specimens: Collect, store, and dispatch pathological specimens, including intravenous blood samples, swabs, and smears, following appropriate training.

Professional and Administrative Duties:

• Clinical Documentation: Accurately record all consultations, treatments, and patient interactions in the clinical computer system.
• Documentation and Reporting: Complete all necessary documentation related to patient care and practice registration.
• Practice Meetings: Actively participate in practice meetings and contribute to discussions on practice philosophy, strategy, and policy.
• Audits: Conduct monthly audits related to the role to ensure compliance with practice standards and identify areas for improvement.

Liaison and Professional Development:

• Inter-Agency Coordination: Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other healthcare agencies, practice staff, and external disciplines.
• Continued Education: Engage in ongoing professional development by attending relevant courses and study days to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Person Specification:

• Qualifications: NMC Registration, Registered Nurse (RN) Qualification, Relevant Nursing Degree or Diploma.
• Experience: General Practice Experience, Chronic Disease Management, Immunisation and Vaccination, Diagnostic Skills, Infection Control.
