Costs Draftsperson

About The Role

DAS Law has an excellent opportunity for a Costs Draftsperson to join our growing Legal Costs Team in our high-performing Complex Department on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will undertake costs drafting work, whilst providing ongoing costing support to the teams, driving excellent costs recoveries and reducing disbursement write offs where possible.

This is a varied and exciting role, and your key responsibilities will include:

Assisting the Senior Costs Lawyer in significantly reducing the sums expended by DAS Law on external costs lawyers; Maximising the sums recovered through the budget and billing process; Managing costs budgeting work within Complex, together with statements of costs, bills of costs and ad hoc costs advice as required; Drafting of any external costs advocate instructions; Assisting with the implementation and testing of any new costs based VisualFiles processes and precedents; Acting as a referral point for costs queries that arise internally and undertake research on costs related issues.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in costs drafting with a track record of taking initiative and continually improving in their existing role. Candidates will require excellent organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise and proactively manage a caseload of costing matters to a high standard. It is key that you can communicate confidently and effectively, and can work autonomously in a cross functional environment supporting multiple teams.Previous costs management experience is essential, and the ideal candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of costs industry regulations, Civil Procedure Rules and the Costs Practices Directions and relevant technical case law, along with core abilities including, numeracy, literacy and computer skills, in particular Microsoft Excel;
