We have an exciting opportunity for a First Contact Practitioner Physiotherapist (FCP) to join our dynamic team. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about providing high quality care.

PICS has a Clinical MSK FCP Lead in post to ensuring its FCPs are fulfilling the requirements of the NHS England FCP Roadmap. We are committed to further the development of FCPs as specialist MSK professionals in primary care.

Main duties of the job

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To work as an autonomous specialist MSK practitioner in providing and delivering musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessments and treatment plans To act independently to assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for individual patients, including those presenting with complex conditions, to determine their need for further MSK or non-MSK intervention. This should involve an understanding of when to refer to other services such as diagnostics, pathology, T&O, medication reviews, pain management, rheumatology, community physiotherapy and injection therapy Write contemporaneous clinical notes using SystmOne, Arden's Templates and provide advice and support with additional electronic software (eg. PhysioTec, AccuRx etc)in line with professional standards

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

BSc or equivalent in Physiotherapy HCPC Registered Minimum of three years musculoskeletal experience

JOB PURPOSE

To start your journey as a First Contact Practitioner - Physiotherapist (FCP-Physio),you will have extensive musculoskeletal experience as a clinical and have a current HCPC registration status. Primary Integrated Community Services Ltd (PICS) is one of the largest employers of FCP's in England and has a Clinical FCP Leads in post that is ensuring its FCP's are fulfilling the requirements of the HEE FCP Roadmap. We are committed to further the development of FCP as specialist MSK professionals in primary care. We employ GP's, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Prescribers, Health & Wellbeing Coaches and FCP -Paramedics.

You will be responsible for delivering frontline specialist musculoskeletal assessment, triage, and care to a varied selection of NHS patients. This will involve both telephone triage and Face-to-Face assessments. Your role in the GP Practice will require close discussion with GP's, Practice Nurses, Practice Managers, Clinical Pharmacists etc. to ensure the right care is delivered at the right time. You will be a self-motivated practitioner always striving to pursue excellence and the best care for your patient.

You will be responsible for referring patients into the MSK Hub for further triage and onward referral, as well as deciding if the patient needs support from other Primary Care colleagues. Taking the initiative and having ownership of a problem-solving approach to care are crucial behaviours for this post.

We have established FCP Physiotherapy Services for over a year and as such, we have a proven track record of effective and efficient service delivery. We have excellent feedback from our MDCT team and patients. We are committed to quantifying our key performance indicators and share this information widely. In-service training is provided, and on-going development of your professional skills is expected.

GP Mentorship, support and supervision is integral to the post, as well as the full support of the Clinical Lead who are working closely with Health Education England and the East Midland CSP network. Fulfilment of registration on the HEE FCP Register is on-going across the Mid Notts region.

HOW YOUR ROLE FITS WITHIN OUR TEAM

You will work within a primary care setting, in busy GP Practices, as part of the wider community physiotherapy and MSK services. The FCP role is a subset of the Advanced Practice Physiotherapy network and as such, close collaboration with or partners is crucial.

The FCP service will require you to perform frontline patient screening with direct referral from GP receptionists. From initial assessment, you will be responsible and accountable for assessing and managing MSK conditions to a high standard including onward referral to other health professionals, imaging, or self-management. Injection therapy will also be utilised when appropriate. You will be an active participant in in-service training, FCP Roadmap developments and social media.

Fulfil mandatory training and those additional training requirements as demanded for the role

To understand each patients needs and expectations, and irrespective of their backgrounds and/or beliefs, to provide them with the quality of service to the standards the company expects

To demonstrate excellence in report writing, and evidence an ability to complete reports autonomously without the need for further support

To attend regular relevant courses both internally and externally, as well as keeping an up-to-date file of your CPD achievements, in line with CSP and HCPC guidelines. This is to be presented annually as part of the appraisal process

To identify and manage any risks to quality, such as workload, communication, and team working, with the support of your line manager and clinical mentor, and to advise on any issues regarding service delivery

To work as part of a team and liaise with other physiotherapists internally to ensure delivery of clinically effective care.

To communicate effectively with all stakeholders (including patients, clinical colleagues, administrative colleagues, receptionists, and external healthcare professionals etc) on challenging matters and in challenging situations in line with PICS Ltd & PCN procedures. Ensuring effective patient management, and working in collaboration with and/or referring to NHS colleagues in hospital and community settings

To fully understand the wider MSK service and local MSK pathways: across primary care, secondary care, and the voluntary sector, including in depth knowledge of referral criteria and scope of services

To take an active role in engaging with external fellow physiotherapy professionals, working to promote PICS Ltd as a leading healthcare organisation, being aware of the referral pathways and actively suggesting and engaging with initiatives to help the business improve patient care
