Belfast, United Kingdom Turner & Townsend Full time
Job Description

Our 24-month Graduate Development Programme (GDP) provides you with a structured learning environment to help you become a well-rounded consultant and accelerate your career. You will get the opportunity to start building your internal networks, deepen your understanding of Turner & Townsend, gain knowledge of the industry and your service area from day one.

Upon joining, you will be provided with a structured development plan which introduces you to the technical and commercial competencies that graduates need to succeed at Turner & Townsend. This gives you the necessary tools to manage and monitor your personal and professional development and progress. Throughout the programme you will be partnered with a Graduate Development Manager who will provide support and guidance to ensure you are on track.

As well as ‘on-the-job' learning, you will benefit from technical and behavioural training, learning from peers and experienced professionals providing you with the knowledge and skills to support you in your personal development. Alongside this you will be given the opportunity to pursue professional qualifications with organisations such as CIPS, RICS, APM, CMI, IMEA, ICE and CIOB (depending on your technical discipline).

Our cost management team is at the heart of Turner & Townsend’s work in transforming performance on the world’s most impactful programmes, to achieve great commercial outcomes and meet client objectives.

During the two-year programme, our Graduate Cost Managers can work with a variety of clients and rotate through multiple diverse roles, providing you with exposure to the most complex projects and programmes across the industry. The graduate programme offers the chance to personally drive improvements at the forefront of key sectors including infrastructure, natural resources, health & education, central & local government, and commercial occupier.

From this, graduates will develop an array of skills to assist the teams in the successful delivery of our cost management services.

Furthermore, the graduate programme offers formal training for graduates to establish and develop core and technical skills in multiple areas of quantity surveying.

As a graduate you will have the opportunity to gain experience in:

  • Cost control and performance management
  • Cost modelling and benchmarking
  • Value management / engineering
  • Stakeholder management
  • Cost auditing and assurance
  • Supply chain and market engagement
  • Procurement and tendering
  • Developing digital solutions to enhance performance
  • Developing commercial strategies and programme setup
  • Programme and project management

Qualifications

We are looking for people who:

  • Have a passion for the built environment and a keen interest effecting positive change for clients, communities and the planet
  • A RICS accredited degree
  • Have a demonstrable interest in the construction industry across infrastructure and real estate, and who understand the challenges facing the industry

  • Want to deliver projects and programmes
  • Recognise their own development needs and are willing to invest time and energy in learning and refining their technical and commercial skills

Additional Information

What’s in it for you:

  • The opportunity to build your knowledge across your sector which could be real estate, infrastructure, advisory, or natural resources, and develop the skills to provide commercial, strategic and analytical advice to our clients.
  • The opportunity to work with your colleagues in a team environment, and with our clients, to drive positive social and environmental change, encourage innovation and create a sustainable energy future.
  • A tailored training plan that will develop your skills and knowledge for your future career, and the tools to track and advance your personal development.
  • Access to our Technical Training Academy, which will expand your professional knowledge, sharpen your skills and equip you to tackle the future challenges.
  • The ability to influence and effect positive change – be that change driving the net zero agenda, creating commercial and employment opportunities with land and assets, modernising our infrastructure, or creating and using digital systems to support efficiency in operations.
  • A network of support to grow your career, in a team-based environment.
  • The opportunity to join a high-calibre, global professional services company which has consistently proved its resilience to volatile market conditions
  • Opportunities to drive and support our corporate commitments to the environment, innovation, inclusivity, wellbeing and the communities we serve
  • An industry-aligned reward package

In some regional roles being able to drive will be necessary due to the location of client offices.  Please also note this is not a remote role as we operate a hybrid working approach you will need to be willing and able to work in a Turner & Townsend office or a client site.

To be considered for roles in the Defence arena you will need to pass both a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check and UKSV SC clearance – this process will initiated once you have accepted an offer and have indicated you are happy to go through these checks.  A summary of the checks involved can be found here.
