Job summary
We are looking for an versatile, enthusiastic and hardworking Band 5 staff nurse with a great team spirit to join our nursing team in the outpatients' department on the Lincoln site.
The Medical Outpatients covers many specialities and our nursing team support the clinicians using skills such as physical observations, phlebotomy, PICC line care, physical observations, IV administration, wound care, chaperoning and coordinating the department.
Whilst the unit currently runs Monday to Friday there is increased weekend activity and the successful candidate must be able to work across a 7-day working week.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a consistently high standard of nursing care that is centred on the patient's needs and in line with the Trust's values and standards. Display a visible clinical presence, supporting the outpatient department team to achieve a high standard of evidence-based care, procedures and treatment specific to the clinical need, appropriate to the role and scope of practice, including the use of medical devices. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of infection and prevention control, adhering to high standards when performing aseptic non touch technique and complying with the Trust's infection and prevention control policies at all times. Ensure compliance with all local policies and guidelines, (but not limited to) medicines management, consent, chaperone, WHO checklist, COSHH and information governance. Work closely with the multi disciplinary team ensuring excellent and effective communication is maintained.
