KMPT has an exiting opportunity for a Community Matron in West Kent Directorate. The post holder will be accountable to the Head of Nursing and Quality and be a member of the Governance Team. Matrons work closely with the Service Director, General and Service Managers across community services (which includes Trust Wide Services).

Matrons are vital in the promotion and delivery of high quality care to service users across KMPT. Matrons are instrumental in reducing health inequalities and promoting equality for all, workforce retention and recruitment, staff education and development, compassionate, inclusive leadership and patient safety.

The Matron’s role is the cornerstone of improving the quality of patient care. They do this through visible inclusive leadership, providing support to staff and engagement with patients and families, frontline staff and senior management team. The post holder will provide assurance to Head of Nursing and Quality that the Directorate is delivering safe care. They will support and develop staff to fulfil their roles. The post holder, will ensure that teams are actively engaged in quality assurance, quality improvement and risk management processes. 

We are looking for an experienced Nurse leader who can deliver on service improvement and transformation, including empowering staff to take on a wider range of clinical tasks, by delivering high quality, effective and safe care, improving service user experience and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Matron is multi-faceted and critical in ensuring that all service users experience the highest standards of clinical care. This will be achieved by a combination of a daily presence in teams, professional curiosity and expert knowledge in care delivery in their specific areas. 

The Matron will be visible to service users and carers and be available to problem solve and resolve issues that arise. They will be sighted on local risks to local care delivery via daily attendance at Governance incident huddles and have an ability to work collaboratively with others to put in plans to mitigate the risks.

The post holder will take a facilitative and empowering approach, nurturing creativity and being open to doing things differently if the desired outcomes improves service user, carer and staff experience. They will work closely with other Head of Nursing and Quality, Matrons, Governance Lead and Officer to ensure that quality data is triangulated and validated. The post holder will seek to work with others to maximise digital solutions where possible.
