SEN Teaching Assistant
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the classroom setting. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure that students receive the necessary assistance tailored to their individual needs. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate learning and promote independence among students with various challenges, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and emotional or behavioural difficulties.
Our client secondary school is located in the heart of Stockport and is only a short walk away from local public transport options. There is also a large onsite car park for members of staff using a vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Individual Learning Needs: Assist students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, adapting resources and activities to meet their specific learning requirements.
- Collaborate with Educators: Work alongside teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that outline specific goals and strategies for each student.
- Promote Inclusion: Foster an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported; encourage peer relationships through social skills development.
- Monitor Progress: Regularly assess student progress towards their IEP goals; provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and engagement.
- Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies; support students in developing self-regulation skills.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents alike.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people’s educational journeys.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
