As a Project Manager, you will be the single point of accountability and leadership for the delivery of a Project or Programme of work. This will be achieved by managing and assuring the performance of contractors to deliver project outcomes to time cost and quality.

You will build a strong relationship with other areas of the business and assist in the repair, maintenance and development of our network assets which is key to delivering several ODI’s such as leakage reduction, the reduction of Supply Interruptions to our customers and our commitment to meet a statutory minimum in terms or water pressure to customers. Stakeholder engagement both internal and external is key to success within this role.

What you’ll be doing as a Project Manager

Stakeholder engagement both internal and external is key to success within this role. Driving the development and continuous improvement of the project team and supply chain, relentlessly striving to deliver enhanced health, safety & environment outcomes, customer delight and superior commercial performance. A key element of this role is to drive contractor performance under a series of framework agreements to deliver value-for-money solutions to our needs.

You will work with both internal stakeholders such as the commercial team, network operations, water production, system operations, asset engineering and network asset maintenance to deliver outputs associated with the programmes. Your role will also require you to work with several external stakeholders such as our regulator, DWI, local and highways authorities and various other groups as required in the delivery of the programme of works.
  • Budget & Risk Management - Deliver sustainable financial out-performance against already approved budgets and report on performance monthly. Review performance and adjust accordingly through quarterly forecasting. Undertake reviews with the QS on the project to ensure contract matters are being managed to achieve optimal value for Thames Water. Proactively manage project risk to minimise financial impact.
  • Performance & Quality Management - Performance management of the service providers to ensure the out-performance of service levels and value for money. Ensure quality systems and processes are complied with so results meet all asset standards. Where appropriate ensure technical waiver processes are followed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Maintain a strong external stakeholder relationship to actively protect and enhance Thames Water’s reputation to external customers.

  • Previous experience in Mechanical or Civil engineering.
  • Be a strong collaborator building trust within teams and across siloes. Collaborate with colleagues to tackle key outcomes, not specific problems and enable others to collaborate and raise performance.

  • Build high-quality relationships and understand what value means to every stakeholder group. Create value through social and financial mechanisms and tools.

  • Be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in Health & Safety performance.
  • A full UK driving licence is required for this position.

What’s in it for you?
  • Salary offering up to £56,000 per annum depending on experience and skills.
  • Car allowance of £4,500 per annum.
  • Location – Various locations across Thames Water but requirement to travel to Maple Lodge site once a week.
