Main duties of the job

You will be based with our established 11 bedded psychiatric intensive care unit in Oxford (Ashurst) where you will deliver evidence based Occupational Therapy interventions and use your creative problem solving to adapt opportunities for activity within PICU environment. This role is so valuable in ensuring patients are supported to maintain their occupational identities during this acute phase of ill health. Using activity as a therapeutic tool, as well as evidence-based assessments, you will assess an individuals readiness to step in to less restricted environments and progress their recovery.

The Inpatient Occupational Therapy team are driven to progress the quality of the service they deliver to our service users, carers and colleagues and regularly review their practice and identify objectives. Based on this we are currently implementing VdTMOCA. You will provide clinical leadership and supervision for Occupational Therapists across our inpatient units in Oxfordshire, work as part of the Adult Directorate Occupational Therapy senior leadership team and have opportunities to contribute to clinical projects as part of the wider senior management team in the Directorate.

The Trust/Ward/Department

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trustprovides physical, mental health and social care across Oxfordshire,Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset. Theirservices are delivered across the community in hospitals, clinics, communitybases and in patients homes, as they focus on delivering care as close to homeas possible.

Ashurst ward is an11-bed PICU based at Littlemore Hospital with a multi-disciplinary teamoffering intensive psychiatric care. The ward offer you access to lots ofresources to support your work, such a gym, music rooms or garden, as well asmany different CPD opportunities the team are able to support you pursuing.

The Responsibilities

If you are successful in yourapplication to this post, you will be expected to manage and deliver on theresponsibilities outlined below as well as those not included here, calltoday to discuss further:

Manage a varied caseload, progressing to includecomplex and at times highly complex cases. Providing occupational therapy services toassess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcome of intervention and documentall stages Supervise junior or non-registered members ofstaff, and participate in the education of occupational therapy students Provide supervision of activity workers Participate and collaborate as a member within amulti-disciplinary team, including completing PEACE interventions You may be required to occasionally commute todifferent sites within the Trust or perform home visits of patients

To be successful in applyingfor this role you will need:

Degree level qualification in OccupationalTherapy To be registered with the Health and CareProfessions Council (HCPC) Experience of working as part of amultidisciplinary team NHS experience PEACE or equivalent training PMVA/Control andrestraint training. Experience or interest in working within acutemental health Desire for candidates to community or crisis OTexperience
