TheProcurement Manager plays a pivotal role within Uniphar Group's Aidand Development business unit. This role is dedicated to ensuringefficient sourcing and procurement of essential medicines andmedical supplies that will be supplied to NGOs, UN organizationsand government bodies in low and middle-income countries. This roleaims to ensure timely, cost-effective, and reliable procurementpractices that align with the company's strategic objectives.

RoleResponsibilities

  • Sourcingstrategies:
    • Identify, evaluate,and implement sourcing strategies in regions including India, Chinaand Africa.
    • Devise a new strategy for ourexisting range of SRA / UKMHRA approved range ofsuppliers.
    • Together with Sales and Operations,determine which products will be sourced for stock keeping at oneor more of Uniphar'swarehouses.
  • Categorystrategies:
    • Analyze market trendsand create comprehensive category strategies for pharmaceuticals,medical supplies, medical equipment, kits and other goods relatedto humanitarian relief.
    • Implement innovativeapproaches to optimize procurement processes within differentcategories.
  • CostManagement and Negotiation:
    • Drivecost-saving initiatives while maintaining qualitystandards.
    • Conduct price negotiations withsuppliers to secure competitive pricing and work with the salesdepartment to select the most cost-effective vendors inquotations.
    • Together with a team of procurementexecutives, keep prices updated in our ERP, and/or conduct spotprice negotiations for tenders and RFQs whererequired.
  • SupplierRelationshipManagement:
    • Cultivate andmaintain strong relationships with existingsuppliers.
    • Identify and onboard new suppliers,ensuring alignment with quality and ethicalstandards.
  • ContractManagement:
    • Oversee contractnegotiations and management, ensuring adherence to terms andappropriate renewals orrevisions.
  • Complianceand Risk Management:
    • Ensureadherence to regulations and industrystandards.
    • Mitigate procurement-related risksand develop contingencyplans.
  • ProcessImprovement:
    • Continuously assessand enhance procurement processes for increasedefficiency.
    • Implement best practices andinnovative approaches to streamlineworkflows.
  • PerformanceMonitoring and Reporting:
    • Developand maintain KPIs to measure procurementperformance.
    • Generate reports providinginsights and recommendations forimprovement.
  • TeamLeadership and Development:
    • Lead,mentor, and develop a small but high-performing procurement team,which is geographical dispersed (UK/EU andIndia).
    • Provide guidance, training, and supportto enhance team capabilities.
