GSL Education is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work with KS3 and KS4 students of one of the local SEN schools in Basingstoke. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work with KS2-KS4 students, providing academic and emotional support to help them progress both academically and personally.

The school specialise in supporting individuals with autism, attachment difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school environment fosters growth and development, empowering students to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and emotional support to a small class group of students (usually 4 students)
  • Assist students in accessing their education by breaking down learning, implementing strategies, and applying therapeutic techniques
  • Implement behaviour plans and strategies to support students in managing their behaviour effectively
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment conducive to students' growth and development
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, staff, parents, and external agencies as required to ensure students' needs are met
  • Maintain accurate student records and communicate effectively with stakeholders

Core Requirements:

  • Function Skills Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent
  • Ability to form positive relationships with young people to provide academic and emotional support
  • Set a positive example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance
  • Promote the welfare of children and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Proactive in matters of Health and Safety
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Experience working with Primary children is desirable
  • Driving license is necessary
